Position 1: English Language Teacher

  • To teach English language (Beginner to Advanced)

  • At least 2 YEARS experience in teaching English.

  • The Applicant MUST be an English Native Speaker.

  • English language teaching qualification.

  • Can develop English Training Programmes.

  • Able to deliver Academic & Professional English Courses.

  • Carry out assessments for all students under your teaching responsibility as required by the programme’s intermittent assessments.

  • Complete relevant paper work and write detailed progress and final reports to reflect the development of student progress and achievement. Deadlines for these progress reports will be set by the department administrator throughout the programme and must be adhered to.

  • To maintain good class and teaching records within the broader programme administration framework (Attendance, Schemes of Work, Continuous Assessment Records Exam Details, Lesson Overviews, Microsoft OneDrive and Class/Staff Notebook Updates etc)

 
 

Position 2: Arabic Language Instructor

  • MUST have a master degree in teaching Arabic as a foreign language.

  • At least 2 YEARS of teaching experience.

  • To develop and deliver classes that meet the learning objectives of classes that range from beginner to advanced language learners.  

  • Carry out assessments for all students under your teaching responsibility as required by the programme’s intermittent assessments.

  • Follow the procedures laid down by the school to ensure the smooth running of the course and examinations.

  • Complete relevant paper work and write detailed progress and final reports to reflect the development of student progress and achievement. Deadlines for these progress reports will be set by the department administrator throughout the programme and must be adhered to.

Position 3: Director of Studies

The Director of Studies at Ireland House is primarily responsible for managing the day to day running of the business.   The person is the first point of contact for clients in terms of managing customer needs and feedback of project status. Major responsibilities include managing staff duties and responsibilities, teacher timetables, managing attendance and holidays of staff, ensuring policies and procedures are up-to-date and adhered to. Ensuring all programmes are run on time and within budget S/He must be accessible and approachable to clients, and familiar with the operations of the institute.

Role:

  • To ensure that Ireland House is effectively run and that all academic programmes are designed and delivered with maximum quality, efficiency and student satisfaction.

  • To ensure that all the necessary support is given to all members of teaching and support staff who work out of Ireland House

  • To liaise with the Directors and provide assistance to other divisions of Ireland House staff, where and when required.

  • To manage and oversee the Training Institute on a daily basis

  • To grow and develop the business by maintaining current clients and recruiting new clients 

Main Responsibilities:

  • To manage a team of teachers and administration staff, providing support, guidance and utilising professional experience regarding issues that may arise on a day-to-day basis.

  • To be responsible for student welfare in the training institute, including support, counselling and discipline as appropriate.

  • To effectively provide orientation, induction and support for all academic staff and manage them accordingly.

  • To provide appropriate and accurate academic advice, tutorial support and feedback to students when required.

  • To develop policies, procedures and regulations and ensure that staff operate at all times in accordance with these.

  • To manage the set-up, use of and safe return of all academic resources, equipment and teaching facilities.

  • To deal with student issues/emergencies, as they arise.

  • To meet and greet all new students upon arrival and provide a personal orientation for them.

  • To maintain accurate staff records, including start and finish dates, contracts, payroll, timetables, holidays etc.

  • To collate and record weekly attendance for each individual student in a system.

  • To maintain accurate records of all holidays or periods of sick leave taken by staff, in order to ensure that all holidays taken are accounted for and have been accrued.

  • To teach when necessary or find suitable cover for any staff absences, including teacher absence, holidays, sickness, etc.

  • To ensure that staff punctuality and attendance are monitored at all times including returning to class after breaks and finishing classes on time.

  • Serve as a resource to teachers for any professional query relating to teaching methods, knowledge of language, availability of resources, etc.

  • To organise and contribute to any professional development in house training required for staff.

  • Organise exams and liaise with external Exam Centres such as IELTS as required.

  • To deputise for the Director and be called on to perform any functions, such as attending meetings, if required.

  • Liaise with all clients including Ministries, government bodies, companies and prospective clients.

  • To delegate responsibility to ADoS and senior teachers to manage and oversee off-campus centres during peak periods if necessary.

  • To be responsible for updating and maintaining a documented framework (DCF).

  • To be responsible for the completion of all mandatory paperwork for the provision and maintenance of recognition from the Ministries

  • To be known to students as a source of assistance, advice or help in both academic and other situations.

  • Update job descriptions as required. (yearly)

  • To fulfil any other additional duties or functions as required.

  • Respond to problems as required

Academic Responsibilities:

  • To oversee recruitment procedures for any new staff required during the academic year, including CV selection, contracts, shortlist and interview procedures, and if required, the facilitation of a trial free lesson by a candidate.

  • Conduct regular classroom observations for all teachers and provide timely and constructive written and oral feedback to each staff members, following on from observations.

  • To manage and oversee all staff performance evaluation, including appraisals and reviews.

  • To tailor any courses specified to client’s requirements, as required.

  • To ensure that the teaching and learning component of all courses is provided to the highest standards so that students derive the maximum benefit from their courses.

  • To support and advise teachers regarding teaching materials, learner and teacher styles, methodologies, manner of delivery, etc.

  • To ensure that all academic programmes adhere to their descriptions, as stipulated in Ireland House publicity material and on the company’s website.

  • Ensure a high standard of teaching is maintained, with students receiving well-planned, well-executed, relevant lessons, in accordance to the guidelines for the course.

  • To address issues as and when they arise, regarding any complaints related to the quality of teaching or any issue relating to the rapport between the teacher and the students

  • To monitor and be responsible for the ordering of all academic books and resources required, ensuring that permission has been authorised by Senior Management. (usually once a month)

  • To monitor and be held responsible for the correct use and treatment of all academic equipment and resources.

  • To monitor teachers’ appearance, ensuring they look neat, tidy and presentable at all times, and to take appropriate action when necessary.

  • To continually monitor student numbers so that teaching staff are deployed in a cost-effective way, and to make appropriate decisions regarding the re-issuing of contracts for teachers, after initial contracts have expired.

  • To ensure that students adhere to the code of conduct and display respect for their teachers.

  • To ensure that all students are presented with accurate certificates of achievement before their departure at the end of their course.

  • To run staff meetings (e.g. weekly meetings).

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Education/Language with a minimum of 5 years management experience or

  • A degree in Business/Management with a minimum of 10 years experience  is essential

  • Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing strategy and business plans to achieve organisational goals.

  • Significant commercial experience including operational planning and financial management.

  • Preferably with prior experience as a Director of Studies or in related field

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Friendliness and approachability are a must

  • Self-sufficient Manager with drive and determination to grow the business

  • Adept to get along with and command the respect of students and colleagues

  • Able to contribute positively as part of a team, helping out with various tasks as required

  • Cross-cultural tolerance and understanding  

  • Full clean driving license

 

 

Position 4: Receptionist (OMANI NATIONALS ONLY)

The Receptionist at Ireland House is primarily responsible for greeting clients and visitors in the office.   The position is the first point of contact for clients in terms of inquiries and office directions. Major responsibilities include answering phone calls, routing calls to the relevant persons, taking messages and relaying them to the appropriate Ireland House personnel. S/He must be accessible and approachable to clients, and familiar with the operations of the institute.

  • Manage the reception area

  • Greet clients/visitors with a positive, helpful attitude

  • Assist clients in finding their way around the office

  • Help maintain workplace security by keeping visitor logs

  • Answer, forward and screen phone calls in a professional manner, and route calls as necessary

  • Maintain call logs

  • Provide excellent customer service

  • Schedule/book appointments for meetings

  • Prepare meeting/training rooms

  • Sort out and distribute mails

  • Assist with a variety of administrative tasks including filing, photocopying, binding, laminating documents

  • Provide administrative assistance to the English and Arabic Academic Departments, including but not limited to:

    • Maintain the notice boards with up-to-date course information.

    • Cross-check course attendance.

    • Keep an up-to-date client database record of people who have attended courses or shown an interest in attending courses.

    • Distribute the relevant course details and marketing materials to prospective clients and past students.

  • Perform ad-hoc administrative duties on occasions when required

Other Organizational Tasks

  • Respond to students’ needs, if necessary

  • Serve refreshments (coffee/tea/water) to visitors

  • Responsible for food orders for students

  • Coordinate/set up lunch/snacks for students in the pantry area

  • Maintain cleanliness of pantry area

  • Arrange office repairs and maintenance

Miscellaneous Tasks

  • Perform translation works (Arabic to English & vice versa), if required

  • Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications:

  • At least secondary school graduate, diploma degree desired

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Preferably with prior experience as a receptionist or in related field

  • Experience with administrative and clerical procedures

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
